This desktop sized version of Yrjö Kaukkapuro’s Karuselli Chair is part of a miniature collection of the most important classics of modern furniture history. The construction, materials and colours correspond perfectly to the historical Vitra Design Museum Collection original and in some cases were assisted by the designers to develop the miniatures. The miniatures are not only valuable collector items but are also ideal illustrative material for universities and colleges. For each of the miniatures there has been a license agreement with the designers or their estate. There are two conflicting stories to the possible inspiration for the sleek Karuselli chair by Finnish designer Kukkapuro. One suggests that Kukkapuro and his daughter came up with the shape while building snow chairs one winter day in the sixties. However another slightly less innocent tale implies that the shape was the result of Kukkapuro falling asleep in a mound of snow following a vodka-fuelled night out.
