Another design by Aalto for Helsinki’s Artek shop. Aalto had been experimenting with laminated birch furniture since 1927 when he met Otto Korhonen of the Oy Huonekalu-ja factory. This was first shown at the 1937 Exposition des Arts et Techniques in Paris. Aalto’s designs have remained in continuous production since.A metal ‘Artek’ label on the underside attests to its authenticity.
