Cini Boeri is one of Milan’s creative aristocracy, an architect whose furniture designs made Italian interiors of the ’60s and ’70s into a symbol of La Dolce Vita. At the same time, the manufacturer Arflex was an influential design patron during the years of the ricostruzione (whose other great products were the Vespa and Fiat 500). Arflex, created by the Pirelli company, was among the first to see the potential of polyurethane foam as a viable material for furniture. In Strips, a modular collection of sofas, ottomans and sofa-beds, infinitely adaptable to any space large or small, Cini Boeri realised the imaginative potential of new materials and industrial production. Strips was designed in 1972.
