A producer of traditional hand-spun kilims, Turkish-based Dhoku is one of the world’s most renowned designers. The name Dhoku is taken from the Turkish work for texture. Dhoku rugs are heavier and more densely woven than most kilims, an indication of the craftsmanship, the hours spent on the loom and the wool used in each piece. The colours used in Dhoku rugs are all 100% organic and the wool used is purchased directly from the villages throughout Anatolia (over 100 different individuals supply the wool with herds of as little as 20 sheep). All of the wool is spun by hand, then passed on to master weavers who take 4-5 weeks to complete each rug. The blob rug is made from totally natural wool without any dye, so that each colour is the natural shade of the wool and the black element is natural black goat hair. These rugs will never fade and as they are completely natural wool are very easy to clean. Every single one of the rugs is a unique masterpiece of hand-weaving and truly individual that will last for years to come.
