TIZIO MICROProduct: 362177 £215 D76 cms Metal At just over half the size of the original Tizio lamp, designed in 1972 by Richard Sapper, the Tizio Micro works well both as a desk or bedside reading lampThe full sized Tizio broke new ground as the first lamp to use a halogen bulb, outside of the car industry.Sapper claimed that he designed the Tizio because he could not find a work lamp that suited him: "I wanted a small head and long arms; I didn't want to have to clamp the lamp to the desk because it's awkward. And I wanted to be able to move it easily."The adjustable lamp can be moved in four directions and its sensitive counterweight system allows it to be positioned effortlessly. The lamp conducts electricity to the bulb via its skeletal arms, eliminating the need for wires. The original lamp achieved real commercial success in the early 1980s when its sleek look met the Wall Street boom, and became popular amongst the young and successful. The Tizio Micro takes one 20W, 12V G4 lamp (not included). The original Tizio desk lamp is also available online, in aluminium or black.
