Authentic Design Classic by Vitra
Why you should buy a design classic

Charles and Ray Eames designed the first industrially manufactured fibre glass chair in 1950. From one basic shell they designed a whole series of shapes and variations. This contemporary re-edition from Vitra is made from recyclable polypropylene with maple legs and chrome struts. Rubber shock mounts connect the seat to the base resulting in a comfortable, flexible chair even after long periods of sitting in it. The modern materials and bright colours create a desirable and fun design classic that will appeal to all ages and compliment a variety of interior settings. Available in white, yellow, blue, orange and black. Each chair has a stamp on it's base to ceritify its authenticity.

American designers Charles (1907–1978) and Ray Eames (1912–1988) made major contribuitions in many fields of design including industrial design, furniture design, art, graphic design, film and architecture. Their extensive influence is celebrated in the term “Eames Era.” The couple were married in 1941, moved to Los Angeles and established an office together. In almost four decades of collaborative work, they created an amazingly diverse oeuvre comprising many groundbreaking furniture designs, significant works of architecture, exhibitions, films, toys, graphics, textile designs and an immense number of photographs. The Eameses’ creative work, which has strongly influence out understanding of design and the role of the designer in modern socienty, ended with Charles’ death in 1978. Ray followed him by ten years to the day. Yet the Eameses’ oeuvre, which embodies their humanist persepectives and visions, has remained permanently relevant and vital.
