Designed by Achille Castiglioni in 1962, the Arco floor lamp is an iconic example of 20th century design that has now garnered legendary status.

Inspired by an urban streetlight, Arco is a versatile, free-standing floor lamp specially designed to bring overhead illumination to a space without the need for mounted fixtures, or the having to walk around the light source.

Its genuine Carrera marble base acts as a counterbalance for the arched aluminium stem, which is adjustable up to 215cm to suit your preferences – whether casting a warming glow over a dining table or illuminating your favourite reading chair. A brushed chrome shade covers the halogen bulb, which completes this technically innovative and visually appealing floor lamp.

Part of our Conran Classic collection and appearing in such films as the James Bond sequel, ‘Diamonds Are Forever’ and ‘The Italian Job’, this sleek floor lamp is an instantly recognisable icon of modern design.

Achille Castiglioni was one of the most important industrial designers of the 20th century, creating over 150 products and winning the prestigious Italian design award, Compasso d’Oro, nine times.

After graduating in architecture at the Politecnico of Milan in 1944, he joined his elder brothers Livio and Pier Giacomo in their design studio. Together they analysed and researched new forms, techniques and materials, aimed at developing a process of “integral design”.

During his career he forged enduring relationships with Italian companies such as Flos, Zanotta and Alessi.
