Expertly designed by Maarten Van Severen in 1998 for Vitra, the minimalist red and silver .03 Chair is easily recognisable thanks to its sleek, slimline shape.
Following the concept that ‘less is more’, the .03 Chair retains an unobtrusive and elegant aesthetic whilst providing extraordinary comfort. Crafted from resilient integral skin polyurethane foam, the seat’s ergonomic shell adapts to the user’s body and flexes slightly when in use owing to leaf springs embedded in the backrest. Finished with four non-stackable silver legs, the .03 Chair is a truly unique modern design.
Having studied architecture at the Art Academy in Ghent, Maarten Van Severen designed his first pieces of furniture in 1986 and went on to found his own workshop in 1987. With a focus on form, material and construction, Van Severen is devoted to rejuvenating basic furniture types such as chairs, tables, chaise longues, shelving units and cabinets.
