Designed initially for his Finnish Engineers’ Association building commission, design master Alvar Aalto unveiled the A110 'Hand Grande' Pendant Light in 1952.
Comprising a lacquered steel shade with an inner brass-plated bottom ring, the A110 subtly distributes its beam, eliminating glare and working splendidly whether on its own or as part of a series.
Alvar Aalto was one of the founding members of Finnish manufacturer Artek. Embracing strong individuality with a focus on designing predominantly for humanity, he masterminded functional and dynamic pieces for public and personal spaces. A successful architect, urban planner and designer, Aalto was deeply inspired by the nature and landscapes of Finland.
