Backenzahn Oak Stool

Bring the beauty of the great outdoors in this season, with this elegant pure wood stool to compliment a pared-back rustic look.

First designed in 1996, Philippe Mainzer's Backenzahn stool is now considered a classic and is already a permanent fixture at a museum of Mainzer's works in Germany.

Made from solid European oak or walnut, the stool might appear raw at first glance, but its 4 identical legs are separated with distinct gaps in the wood, that draw attention to the stool's blueprint, and it's subtly carved-out concave top provides comfortable seating (the Backenzahn is also available with a flat top for use as a side table, if preferred).

Winner of the Schöner Wohnen New Classics award, the word Backenzahn means the molar or back teeth in German, from which Mainzer takes inspiration for its shape.

27cm (w) x 47cm (h) x 27cm (d) Seat Height: 47cm
