De La Espada
Founded in 1993 by Luis De Oliveira and Fatima De La Espada, De La Espada plays a groundbreaking role in bringing contemporary furniture to London. Each piece in its collection is designed in collaboration with leading designers and is infused with inspiration from cultural references as diverse as the Arts and Crafts movement, mid-century Scandinavian design and architects such as Tadao Ando, Luis Barragán and John Pawson.
De La Espada ensures its collection can be used efficiently and has the power to transform everyday lives. Its portfolio of designs includes key pieces of furniture that aim to create "a place to eat, rest, sleep and work." This mantra encapsulates De La Espada's designers' unique ability to create furniture that makes the human form the central focus. Furthermore, by crafting each piece in intricate detail using premium materials, De La Espada ensures its creations will last for years to come and help bring an end to fast consumerism.
Collaborating with designers such as Ilse Crawford, Jason Miller and Matthew Hilton, De La Espada curates exquisite designs, with each piece of furniture crafted at its workshop on Portugal's Silver Coast. Here, highly skilled woodworkers combine traditional joinery with advanced technologies to push the boundaries of innovation and harness new skills. By creating each design as part of a small batch, De La Espada meticulously and consistently ensures the highest possible standard of finish.
Light Extending Table in Walnut
Crafted from rich American walnut wood and finished in Danish oil, the Light Extending Table is designed by Matthew Hilton and has a clean, sculptural silhouette.
Created by artisan furniture craftsmen, the table has an angular form, enhanced by its distinctive legs that provide additional legroom while lending understated opulence to an interior.
When no longer required, the table's two extending components can be conveniently stowed in its interior fabric-lined compartment. Perfect for enhancing a contemporary dining space, the table comfortably seats 12-14 dinner guests when extended, making it the ideal option for spontaneous dinner parties while also being the perfect size for everyday family dining.
