Meaning ‘flower’ in Latin, renowned Italian manufacturer Flos was founded with the goal of creating life-changing lighting. Committed to quality, expert craftsmanship and innovative design, Flos has accumulated an ever-blossoming portfolio that includes designs by Michael Anastassiades, Achille Castiglioni and Philippe Starck.
Founded in the 1960s by Dino Gavina and Cesare Cassina, Flos began to reinvent lighting from its conception. Experimenting with innovative materials such as special cocoon fabric developed by the US Army as a protective packing material, Flos and its cohort of designers have succeeded in transforming modern lighting. Expertly crafting each light from its base in the Italian city of Brescia, Flos has become synonymous with quality design and innovation.
Awarded its first Compasso d'Oro in 1979 for the Parentesi Suspension Light by Achille Castiglioni and Pio Manzù, Flos has also won countless other awards for its innovative lighting and skilled craftsmanship. A leader in the industry, today Flos continues to manufacture icons such as the Bellhop Table Lamp, the Arco Floor Lamp, the Snoopy Table Lamp and the Gatto Table Lamp, as well as collaborating with contemporary designers.
Bellhop Table Lamp
Casting a glare-free and comfortable light, the portable Bellhop Lamp was designed by the award-winning design duo Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby for London’s new Design Museum, an opening that was championed by our founder Sir Terence Conran.
A lesson in sleek simplicity, each table lamp is intricately shaped from polycarbonate with an opaline, injection-moulded diffuser, rechargeable via an included micro USB cable and offers 24 hours of wire-free illumination. Featuring a dimmable function through a button located on its base, its light can be adapted to suit its surroundings for a personalised space.
