Founded in Copenhagen in 1967 by Gubi and Lisbeth Olsen, GUBI’s philosophy is to give overlooked icons of the past the recognition they deserve and to cultivate new generations of design talent. Fuelled by this passion, the result is an intercontinental portfolio of furniture and lighting that blurs the lines between the past and the future.
The brand originally focused on producing the Olsens’ own furniture designs and trading textiles within the retail sector. After their sons opened a concept store and introduced fashion into the equation, GUBI began to evolve as a brand and forge its now instantly recognisable aesthetic of simple, arresting shapes creating using the world’s most innovative manufacturing techniques.
Once famous for traditionally crafting its furniture out of beautifully curved wood, GUBI is now renowned for being at the forefront of an innovative moulding technique using 3D-veneers. Over the years, GUBI has established a firm position on the Danish design market with its handpicked edit of high quality furniture from all over the world, and its collaborations with both esteemed designers and exciting up-and-comers.
Innovatively designed by Marcel Gascoin in 1947 to complement the compact post-war French homes, the C-Chair has been beautifully crafted by GUBI.
Characterised by its high-quality wooden workmanship and distinctive leg profile, the iconic chair is crafted from robust oiled oak or walnut and finished with an exquisitely crafted French cane seat and back, to texturally complement the wooden frame.
Cleverly designed with great attention to detail for premium functionality in any home, the oak C-Chair is sure to enhance any dining or living area.
Designed by one of the post-war era’s leading designers, Marcel Gascoin’s designs became a staple in French homes during the 1950s. Incredibly forward-thinking and passionate about clean aesthetics and exploring new means of production, today Gascoin’s furniture is praised for its simple lines and minimalist aesthetic.
