Working with top-rate designers such as Pier Luigi Cerri, Afra and Tobia Scarpa and Paola Navone, it is no wonder that Molteni&C has become synonymous with cutting-edge European design and is one of the key players in the Italian furniture industry.
Founded by Angelo Molteni in 1934, Molteni&C quickly became known for creating the highest standard of furniture. Still a family-run design house to this day, Molteni&C maintains the same commitment to quality and attention to detail that made its name. One of the few design houses that meticulously follows its creations from conception to production, Molteni&C was awarded the Compasso d’Oro in 1994 for its inimitable contribution in design. Molteni&C furniture adorns the interiors of Cartier boutiques across the globe, the La Fenice theatre in Venice and the Walt Disney cruise ships.
Under the creative direction of Vincent Van Duysen, Molteni&C continues to evolve and is committed to fusing the latest technological innovation with traditional craftsmanship to produce creative solutions for the modern home. Breathing fresh life into design classics such as Werner Blaser’s MHC.1 Drawers, Luca Meda’s Teatro Chairs and Aldo Rossi’s Carteggio Writing Desk, Molteni&C also holds an exclusive partnership with the Gio Ponti Archives. Collaborating with designers such as Michele De Lucchi, Jasper Morrison and Patricia Urquiola, Molteni&C nurtures contemporary talent to create future collectables and encourage the next generation of masters.
Originally designed between 1956 and 1957 by Gio Ponti, the D.357.2 Wall Shelf in an elm veneer finish is expertly crafted by Molteni&C based on original drawings found in the Gio Ponti Archives.
Proudly on display in Gio Ponti’s private house in Via Dezza in Milan, the wall-mounted shelving unit features a multi-layer wood body finished with elm veneer in both a natural finish and hand-painted white.
A refined addition to any space, this design classic would enhance any home with its clean lines, contemporary silhouette and expert craftsmanship.
