Founded by Nani Marquina in 1987, nanimarquina's goal is to create “unique and surprising handcrafted rugs for people to enjoy”. Operated by the Marquina family to this day, nanimarquina perfectly blurs the line between contemporary design and traditional craftsmanship to create elegant designs.
The daughter of pioneering Spanish designer Rafael Marquina, Nani Marquina became immersed in a unique world of creativity from a young age. Inspired by her father, Nani Marquina has dedicated her career to designing rugs that convey emotions and a sense of wellbeing. Regularly collaborating with prestigious international designers to create innovative collections, nanimarquina’s designs play with shape, colour and texture, and are exquisitely crafted with the highest quality raw materials. Dedicated to respecting traditional crafts and techniques, the technology and artisanship behind every design is meticulously researched to achieve the perfect finish.
Giving back to society is a core component of nanimarquina’s ethos and by relocating all its manufacturing to communities in developing countries, nanimarquina has helped to boost local economies, offer new opportunities and improve living standards for its workers. Passionate about reusing, reducing and recycling through the use of biodegradable and recycled products, it enlists an eco-friendly chemical-free washing method that enriches the environment with nitrogen and requires less water than traditional cleaning methods. All nanimarquina rugs incorporate the Care & Fair logo, an organisation that guarantees products are manufactured free of child labour.
Paying homage to Eduardo Chillida, this Figura Humana 1948 Rug from Spanish design house nanimarquina was inspired by the artist’s preparatory sketches for his Peine del Viento sculptures.
Celebrated for his impressive abstract works, Spanish Basque sculptor Eduardo Chillada was well known for his work on the human form. Hand knotted from New Zealand wool in natural and black hues, this artistic Figura Humana 1948 Rug will transform your living space.
