Originally founded by Italian designer Bruno Gatta in 1946, Stilnovo was largely influenced by post-war rationalist design. Stilnovo quickly became known for its prestigious manufacturing methods and a keen eye for design, something it continues to uphold today.
Each design Stilnovo crafts embodies its goal of creating lighting that is “unique, universal and an attractive example of quality and originality”. Its portfolio includes original Stilnovo designs as well as collaborations with some of the 20th century’s most iconic designers. Reissuing designs from almost-forgotten lighting by Antonio Macchi Cassia to classics by De Pas, D’Urbino, Lomazzi, Stilnovo prides itself as a figurehead of timeless Italian design.
Having been taken under the wings of the Linea Light Group at the start of 2019, Stilnovo continues to innovate through cutting-edge technology, collaboration with up-and-coming designers and discovering forgotten designs. The Conran Shop’s offering boasts a selection of exclusive Stilnovo designs, including the Lampiatta Table Lamp, the Fante Light and the Topo Desk Lamp.
Lampiatta Table Lamp
Originally designed by architect and design studio De Pas, D'Urbino, Lomazzi in 1971 and recreated by Stilnovo, the Lampiatta Table Lamp is exclusively available at The Conran Shop as a pre-release bespoke run.
The light’s distinctive ‘English helmet’ silhouette has been specially designed to reflect light around the room. The lacquered aluminium shade can be positioned in four different positions in the plastic base to adjust the angle of its glow. Each lamp is authenticated by a numbered card featuring an embossed Stilnovo logo.
As a gatekeeper of modernist design, Stilnovo strives to finish each design it reissues to the most authentic possible standard. Based upon analysis of the original Lampiatta Light, made available to Stilnovo by Donato D’Urbino and Paolo Lomazzi, it was possible to rebuild this new edition as similar as possible to the original design.
