Stockholm-based sound specialist Transparent Sound released its first design, the Kickstarter-funded Transparent Speaker, in 2012 to widespread acclaim. Spurred on by its founders Per Brickstad and Martin Willers, Transparent Sound has since created a wider portfolio of designs and has collaborated with recording artists such as Britney Spears, Will.I.Am, Robyn and Snoop Dogg.
Central to Transparent Sound’s ethos is creating a more open, honest and sustainable business model that combats throwaway consumer culture. Using only the highest quality materials to craft each speaker, Transparent Sound’s designs are modular and repairable to make sure as few components as possible are thrown away. Furthermore, Transparent Sound encourages its speakers to be cherished for much longer than your average soundsystem by specially designing them with the capacity to be upgraded over time, rather than traded in for a newer model.

Now, Transparent Sound’s limited-edition UPCRAFTED collection helps to showcase the work of some of Europe’s skilled craftspeople.
