Here you'll find answers to some of the most common questions we get asked, to set your mind at ease when ordering a customised upholstery piece from our Build Your Own collection. We'll talk you through ordering free fabric samples, the delivery of your furniture and our returns policy.

Select from our range of bespoke Build Your Own furniture including sofas, armchairs, sofa beds, beds and ottomans. Take your time - our designs carry unique qualities and features each suited to different rooms and needs.
ORDER YOUR SAMPLE
Each collection in our Build Your Own range is configurable in upholstery exclusive to The Conran Shop. Using our complimentary sample-ordering service, you can test and plan various fabrics to find your perfect finish.
PLACE YOUR ORDER
Each piece of furniture is completely handcrafted to order and construction time may vary. Keeping you informed every step of the way, our customer service team will be on hand to guide you throughout the process.
Where can I find out more about the fabrics?
You can view, and take home, free samples of any of our 76 exclusive fabric options from The Conran Shop's stores in Chelsea and Marylebone, or order up to three samples online. Each of these fabrics can be used to upholster pieces in our Build Your Own collection, you can find more information on each of them here.
Will it fit in my house?
Due to our Returns Policy for bespoke furniture, we do advise that customers take advantage of our access checks to ensure that your chosen sofa or armchair will fit into your property. While this is not required, it does provide an additional level of assurance and peace of mind.

What happens once I place my order?
For every upholstery order, a member of our customer service team will get in touch by phone or by e-mail to confirm your fabric choice and check any bespoke requirements you may have.
As every item is custom-made on receipt of an order, delivery is typically between four to eight weeks, depending on your choice of sofa or armchair. The estimated dispatch time given on the product page will indicate this for you. Please note that at certain times of year (for example Christmas), estimated delivery dates may be extended.
When your sofa, armchair or ottoman is ready and with us, we will follow up with another call or e-mail to advise a window of delivery and arrange a specific date/time.
We have a specialist, fully-insured white glove courier service that delivers all large furniture items. Your order will be couriered to you by two trained delivery people, who will bring the items into your home, office or contract space as directed, so you won’t have to carry a thing.
Am I able to delay delivery?
We understand that if furnishing a new property or moving home, it can be hectic to organise storage facilities, so we are more than happy to keep your order with us until you are ready to receive your delivery. This can be arranged when speaking to a member of our customer service team when your item is ordered.
Can I return Build Your Own furniture?
As every sofa and armchair is custom-made, based on your personal requirements, we are unable to accept returns unless the order arrives damaged. We can refund the value of your item(s) up to the point at which we raise the order with our supplier, and can change any details you wish, which is why we will always call or e-mail every customer who places an order for upholstery with us online.
