Designed by Maarten van Severen for Vitra just over two decades ago, the minimalist red- and black-hued .04 Office Chair follows a ‘less is more’ concept.
Instantly recognisable thanks to its sleek, slimline shape, the height-adjustable chair retains a discreet and elegant aesthetic whilst providing extraordinary comfort. Crafted from resilient polyurethane foam, the seat’s ergonomic shell rests on a steel frame and five-star swivel base. At the same time, a rubber ball joint allows multi-directional movement, and fitted armrests provide extra support.
Having studied architecture at the Art Academy in Ghent, Maarten van Severen designed his first pieces of furniture in 1986 and founded his own workshop in 1987. With a focus on form, material and construction, van Severen is devoted to rejuvenating essential furniture such as chairs, tables, and cabinets.
