Expertly re-released by Carl Hansen & Søn, this painted wood and natural paper cord edition of the iconic Wishbone CH24 Chair was designed by Hans J. Wegner in 1949 and is still crafted today to his exacting standards.
Inspired by a portrait of Danish merchants sitting in traditional Ming chairs, the classic chair is characterised by its distinctive Y detail. Offering back support, stability and a unique aesthetic, the chair’s wonderfully sculptural shape allows for freedom of movement and superior comfort.
Available in light blue, white, red and black finishes, the chair is crafted with a gently rounded beech wood top rail and wonderfully sculptural shape. With a seat beautifully hand-woven from 120 metres of paper cord, more than 100 production steps are taken to craft this exquisite chair.
The driving force behind ‘Danish Modern’, Wegner’s innovative designs altered the public’s view of furniture throughout the 1950s and 60s. Known as the ‘Master of the Chair’, his partnership with Carl Hansen & Søn began in 1949 and continues to this day, with the iconic Wishbone having been in continuous production since 1950.
