Designed in 1950 by iconic duo Charles and Ray Eames for Vitra, the Hopsak-upholstered DAW Plastic Armchair showcases the signature ‘Eiffel’ base between dark maple legs and a refreshed colour palette for 2019, paying homage to the model’s original colour history while acknowledging future aspirations.
Crafted from recyclable dyed-through polypropylene for greater comfort, the seat comes fully upholstered in a selection of Hopsak fabrics. Durable and robust, Hopsak is a flat-plain weave fabric crafted from polyamide, making it ideal for private as well as public settings.
The first industrially produced plastic chair, the DAW has a simple and organic shape that has led to its legendary status and universal appeal. Updated in 2016, Vitra added 2cm to the height of the chair and revised the geometry of the seat for optimum ergonomics and comfort.
