Danish designer Cecilie Manz is renowned for clean, modern designs that range from lighting to furniture and accessories. Her portfolio includes the Caravaggio Lamp, the Essay Table and a collection of practical kitchen utensils.
Beginning her career in design as a student at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, Cecilie Manz went on to study at the University of Art and Design in Helsinki before founding her studio. Her affinity with robust materials and exquisite craftsmanship is evident in every piece she designs, erring towards clean lines and a modern sensibility. Paramount to her design ethos is ensuring each design has its own place in the world.
In honour of her contribution to design, Manz is recipient of the Thorvald Bindesbøll Medal, the Bruno Mathsson Prize and the Finn Juhl Architectural Prize. Furthermore, in 2014 she was awarded Denmark’s prestigious Crown Prince Couple’s Culture Prize in recognition of her innovative eye for design. Her designs are exhibited in the Museum of Modern Art in New York and Denmark’s Design Museum.
Caravaggio P1 Pendant Light
Designed by Cecilie Manz as a tribute to one of her favourite creative minds, the Caravaggio collection welcomes the small P1 Pendant Light, available in a selection of bold finishes.
Featuring a high-gloss lacquered or matt steel shade, the light is installed on a series of curved steel rods that counteract the shade’s elegance with an industrial aesthetic. An admirer of monochrome, Manz’s focus on this aesthetic allows the compact light to add an easy and unique ambience to contemporary spaces.
Created by Danish designer Cecilie Manz, the Caravaggio collection reflects her desire to create detailed, defined pieces that allow the function to become the focus, rather than the object’s appearance. Each clean design is a truly versatile addition to your lighting collection.
