Whether innovating products, serving as a judge at festivals or guest lecturing at established institutions worldwide, Tan is always busy bringing his new ideas to life. He is the creative director of three companies: Turn, Ariake and Origin. The latter came into fruition after Tan’s visit to Portugal in 2014. Mesmerised by the craftsmanship and unique materials found in Portuguese workshops, Tan decided to enlist the finest artisans to offer Portuguese craft, industry and culture to the world in the form of ceramic, glass, leather, stone and wooden goods.

First and foremost, Tan wants to bring people closer to their possessions and connect them to their makers. His contribution to design has rewarded him with worldwide recognition, including the Singaporean President's Design Award. Tan has instigated several collaborations with The Conran Shop. Each exclusive to us, the Hole tables beautifully demonstrate Carrara marble’s one-of-a-kind veining, the Tenon wall shelves are the embodiment of balance and stability, while the Monument storage series benefits from the anti-bacterial, fingerprint-proof and dust-repellent properties of Fenix.

The elegant Monument Low Console marks a new refined collaboration between The Conran Shop and Gabriel Tan.

Each cabinet is the fusion of walnut with a black-stained ash base. Completed with a Fenix top, the innovative, lightfast material is renowned for its anti-bacterial, fingerprint-proof and dust-repellent properties, as well as its resistance to impact and scratching.
