Graduating with a degree in design from Kingston Polytechnic in 1982, Jasper Morrison went on to study at London’s Royal College of Art and the University of the Arts in Berlin. Founding his own Office for Design in 1986, Morrison forged partnerships with prestigious manufacturers such as Aram, SCP, Cappellini and Vitra. Designing iconic pieces such as the HAL Tube Chair, the Glo-Ball Pendant Light and the All Plastic Chair, Morrison’s designs can be found in homes across the globe.
A Royal Designer for Industry since 2001 and boasting offices in London, Tokyo and Paris, Jasper Morrison is also the art director for Swiss electronics company Punkt and designed furniture for the Tate Modern’s extension. Honoured with exhibitions dedicated to his work and designs in the permanent collections at New York’s MoMA and other museums across the globe, Morrison is universally recognised as a leading figure in contemporary design.
The Glo-Ball F2 Floor Light forms part of Jasper Morrison’s Glo-Ball Collection, created in 1998 to call to mind the radiant glow of a full moon in a clear sky, in a fluid round form crafted from hand-blown, etched white opaline glass.
The elegant opaline finish obtains a maximum diffusion of light, with the die-cast aluminium support and matte silver stem creating a stable base for the otherwise curved form, fitting easily into any style of space.
Jasper Morrison created the Glo-Ball to invoke the otherworldly magic of night-time, with the lamp appearing three dimensional when not lit, and flat as a disc, like the moon, when illuminated.
