Regarded as one of Britain’s most esteemed industrial designers, Matthew Hilton infuses complex engineering and seemingly effortless simplicity into each piece he creates. Working with luxurious materials such as solid wood, cast iron and brass, Matthew Hilton’s designs are often inspired by long-established furniture forms that he seeks to refresh.
Since founding his eponymously-named studio in 2007, Matthew Hilton has taken control of the design process from start to finish. Thriving on modern manufacturing methods and fusing them with his unparalleled knowledge of the industry, each piece Matthew Hilton and his studio designs is finished to the highest possible standard. Working closely with prestigious manufacturers such as Case Furniture and De La Espada, Matthew Hilton’s furniture designs are always exquisitely crafted.
Designing beautiful pieces that are timeless enough to be passed down through generations, Matthew Hilton’s extensive portfolio includes a series of exclusive designs for The Conran Shop, including the Hyde Dining Table, the Sloan Sofa and the Severn Dining Table. Renowned across the globe, Hilton’s designs have been honoured with places in the permanent collections of the Victoria and Albert Museum, Manchester City Art Gallery and the Geffrye Museum in London.
