Description

The DKR Wire Chair, designed in 1951 by Charles and Ray Eames, is a re-working of the organically shaped one-piece seat shell in its most transparent form.

This timeless modernist design was inspired by the DSR, one of the very first industrially produced plastic chairs, which was developed for the ‘Low-Cost Furniture Design’ competition at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City.

This edition is stripped back to its basic form, its structure formed of criss-crossed wire. The four-legged wire base with cross struts adds an architectural edge to the design.

With its sculptural shape, the DKR Wire Chair is now an archetype of the genre of chairs with a minimalist edge.
