Yanagi Elephant Stool Cream
One of the most celebrated post-war Japanese designs, today Sori Yanagi's cream Elephant Stool remains as appealing as ever, with its clear formal idiom and superb functionality.
Designed in 1954, this lightweight and stackable chair lends itself to use in gardens and balconies as well as inside the home. Crafted from dyed-through polypropylene, this functional stool is a re-edition of the version that appears in the Vitra Design Museum.
Combining western industrial designs with Japan’s native artisanal traditions, Sori Yanagi creates truly unique organic designs. His ingenious approach to design does not end at furniture as he is also celebrated as a lighting, cutlery, metro station, and car designer.
