This enchanting magnifying Facet Paperweight was designed as part of a collaboration between Atelier Swarovski and designer Aldo Bakker, and crafted entirely in the UK through an intricate process only known by Atelier Swarovski.
Sophisticated yet simple, the exquisitely cut Facet Paperweight is formed from a piece of coloured Swarovski crystal, made up of a domed top connected to faceted edging that casts a captivating display of light all around it and magnifies the contents beneath, showcasing the natural brilliance and clarity of the crystal from which it is cut.
In his second collection for Atelier Swarovski, Aldo Bakker returns to his fixation with purity of form and materiality, saying of the collaboration, “The beauty of crystal is that it can be both fluid and architectural.” To achieve the perfect balance of function and beauty, Swarovski crystals specially crafted in Wattens, Austria are used, which are then assembled by hand in the UK by Swarovski’s own specialists.
To bring Bakker’s original concept to life, Atelier Swarovski dedicated a specialist team to develop and innovate new production methods that could achieve the fascinating result. This constant evolution of craftsmanship and advancements in technology is at the heart of Atelier Swarovski’s ethos.
