Originally designed by Finn Juhl in 1956, House of Finn Juhl relaunched the France Chair in 2016.
Despite exemplifying the organic shapes and distinct design characteristics that are typical of Finn Juhl’s creations, the France Chair has a remarkably simpler expression. Nevertheless, the upholstered leather body seems to float above the organically curved wooden frame as if freed from the confines of gravity.
Upholstered in full-grain vacuum tanned smooth aniline leather in a cognac finish, the France Chair’s seat and backrest are supported by an expertly crafted oak frame.
Finn Juhl was the first Danish furniture designer to achieve international recognition, which is particularly poignant considering he was self-taught. His success paved the way for Danish Modern design to become known throughout the world.
