To celebrate the 21st anniversary of Original BTC Lighting and the centenary of Michelin House in 2011, Sir Terence Conran designed a range of lighting for BTC, entitled the Hector Bibendum collection.
A sensitive, charming yet witty adaptation of the original bone-china model of the Hector light, the form of the new Hector Bibendum lamp is inspired by the corpulent shape of the iconic Michelin Man and the signature cotton-braided flex of Original BTC Lighting.
This limited edition piece, commissioned by BTC, is a fitting tribute to a relationship between Terence Conran and Original BTC that has lasted over 20 years. Slipcast by hand at the Original BTC Stoke-on-Trent factory, the bone-china shade and base are dipped in glaze after biscuit-firing to achieve the high gloss finish, and assembled together with a satin aluminium pole and turquoise cotton-braided cable.
