We are delighted to announce the sale of The Conran Shop business to British businessman Mr Javad Marandi OBE.
Sir Terence Conran founded The Conran Shop in 1973 and has been the ultimate owner of the business since its inception.
The investment by the Marandi Family will see them acquire 100% of the business and its assets including the two London stores in Chelsea and Marylebone, as well as The Conran Shop in Paris.
In October 2019, we launched a process to explore the sale, refinance and investment options for The Conran Shop and its subsidiaries. Sir Terence, his family and The Conran Shop board unanimously chose to proceed with the offer of investment from The Marandi Family.
Sir Terence comments: "Following our discussions with the Marandi Family, I realised that their investment is as close to my dream and long-term vision for The Conran Shop as we could ever wish for. I remain passionately fixated on the future and this deal secures our legacy. It was clear we share so many common beliefs and values about the future of The Conran Shop, luxury and retailing in general and I am a huge admirer of Javad Marandi’s other business interests within the luxury sector."
“This is a unique opportunity to expand The Conran Shop brand globally following the opening of our biggest store ever in Seoul last year. The Marandi Family’s investment and expertise will help our stores grow and build on our rich legacy in the world of design, furniture and the very best products for the home.”
Mr Javad Marandi comments: “I am thrilled to announce our investment in The Conran Shop. As with my other investments in the luxury retail sector, our role will be to work collaboratively with this wonderful brand and its great team to help it expand and flourish in the future. Working with Sir Terence has been a pleasure, and The Conran Shop is a brand I have always admired so I am very excited to play a role in securing its long-term success.” Sir Terence will remain involved with the Conran Shop business.
