DITN19 • The Panel Round-Up & New Lighting Highlights

Enriched with the shining wisdom of Jessica Jonzen and Rosalind Sack of The Home Page and luminary Michael Anastassiades, we look back at another successful Dark is the Night panel and get ready for the chillier climes of winter with new and exclusive lighting.

The Panel

Ahead of the clocks changing, we learned more about the significance of light, particularly in the darkest months of the year. Lead by writer, editor and commentator, Leanne Cloudsdale, a riveting discussion about all things lighting ensued, with expert insights and advice from our panelists.

Soundtracked by DJ Sam Young and scented by Tuscan perfumer, Dr. Vranjes, intrigued guests sat comfortably in our considered seating while sipping on refreshing beverages courtesy of Rémy Martin and The London Essence Company.

New Season Lighting

With standard time being a period of subdued ambience, we dim our lights to match our moods, however, as the production of melatonin increases and serotonin decreases, it’s important to optimise your lighting to lower your chances of falling victims to disorders such as SAD. To help battle winter woes, we’ve shortlisted our new and exclusive highlights for the season.

OE Pendant Light

OE Quasi Pendant Light

By Olafur Eliasson for Louis Poulsen

Balancing artistic expression with sustainability, the OE Quasi Pendant Light, according to Eliasson, is a ‘living organism’ and ‘a visual representation of turning light into life’. Fashioned almost entirely from recycled aluminium, the pendant has 12 dimmable LEDs that emanate a warm glare-free glow.

Amuleto Trinity Lamp

By Alessandro Mendini for Ramun

Translating to ‘lucky charm’ in Italian, Amuleto presents a landmark achievement in the history of lighting design, owing to its stained glass-like LED ring composition. Inspired by the structure of the human arm, the ophthalmologist-approved lamp comprises three circles, representing the trinity of the sun, the moon and the earth.

By Frank Lloyd Wright for Yamagiwa

Expertly brought to life with special permission from the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation, the Taliesin 2 Floor Lamp is inspired by Wright’s Taliesin 1 Pendant Light. Originally illuminating a theatre at Wright’s Taliesin residence in Wisconsin, cherry wood was chosen to reflect Wright’s favourite colour, red.
