1. Welcome to The Conran Shop, Technogym! Please tell us a little about your brand.
Technogym is a world-leading brand in products and digital technologies for fitness, sport and health for wellness. Technogym offers a complete ecosystem of connected smart equipment, digital services, on-demand training experiences and apps that allow every end-user to access a completely personalised training experience anytime and anywhere: at home, at the gym, on the go. Over 50 million people train with Technogym in 80,000 wellness centres and 400,000 private homes worldwide. Technogym has been the official supplier of the last eight Olympic Games, and it’s the brand of reference for sports champions and megastars all over the world.
2. Technogym has an impressive history, founded in 1983 and renowned for developing the first complete line for strength training. How important is this legacy to the brand’s identity?
Nerio Alessandri, our founder, at the age of 22 founded Technogym by designing and building the first equipment in his garage. Technogym was the combination between technology (Techno) and exercise (Gym) and this legacy still represents our identity that every day we reinvent and reinterpret with new technologies.
3. Further to this, how do you ensure that you remain at the cutting edge of sports technology?
Innovation is our most important legacy and the key growth factor for Technogym. In the 80s, we innovated in biomechanics, then in electronics by introducing cardio, then in design by collaborating with acclaimed designers and by developing stunning home fitness products, then in digital by introducing apps and connected equipment. Today, we are about to add to our products and connected ecosystem on-demand training videos for different needs and passions.
4. Where does the brand seek its fitness inspiration from?
Technogym introduced 30 years ago the concept of wellness and wellness is the philosophy that inspires us. Wellness is a lifestyle which includes regular physical exercise, healthy nutrition and positive mental approach. The wellness concept encompasses fitness, sport and health and Technogym has developed a complete range of product and solution to answer all needs: staying in shape, training athletic sport performance or prevention and rehab.
5. What three things do you think are most important to remember when it comes to approaching a new fitness regime?
Consistency, personalisation, and happiness. The emotional and aspirational aspect of the experience is fundamental to being consistent. The fitness experience needs to be personalised to your passions and goals to obtain results and keep motivation high.

Personal Line is Technogym’s design home fitness equipment premium collection that combines the style of the world-acclaimed designer Antonio Citterio with Technogym’s experience in the world of fitness and sport as the official supplier of the last eight Olympic Games. Alongside state of the art biomechanics and digital technologies, Personal Line products are made using refined materials and top-level craftsmanship. They are conceived to be placed, as beautiful furniture pieces, in the most beautiful spaces of people’s houses. The line includes the most iconic fitness equipment – Treadmill, Bike, Recline, Elliptical, Kinesis and Power Station – to offer people both the option of creating an entire home gym or to integrate their favourite equipment within their living room, bedroom or bathroom.
7. What are the challenges in maintaining the balance between a design-led product and state-of-the-art gym equipment?
Since the beginning, our motto has been, 'Masterpieces are made of details.' This is our mantra and we strive every day to design and develop products that, at the same time, feature the most innovative biomechanics and digital technologies combined with a charming style and design.
8. What is your most popular Technogym machine?

9. Are there any designers or business owners that have inspired you along the way?
Over the years we have been inspired by sports champions from all over the world, by the most important designers in the world we have been working with, and especially by the 50 million people training with Technogym every day in 80,000 fitness clubs and 400,000 homes all over.
10. Lastly, what does the future hold for Technogym? Have you any new exciting projects in the works?
Technogym’s future is about our ecosystem strategy aimed at delivering personalised training experiences accessible anytime and anywhere: On Technogym design equipment consoles at home and the gym, on our exclusive Technogym app, and compatibility with all popular tracking devices and training apps.
