First launched at Salone del Mobile in 2010, this chair is instantly striking in its originality. With its namesake - the elephant - as stimulus, the chair features a bold silhouette with intricate detailing.
Designed with the form and image of the elephant as inspiration, the chair is an ergonomic structure with a subtly curved swivel seat and star formation legs.
The distinctive curved armrests characterise the Elephant Chair, allowing its silhouette to capture the statuesque beauty of the eponymous animal.
The natural hide leather upholstery is exceptionally supple and fastened by artisans in hand-stitched seams that recall the structure of an elephant’s back bone, while the unique star formation, chrome-plated base ensures stability and allows 360° movement.
The Elephant collection includes a choice of natural full grain hide upholstery or a crisp white polyurethane seat, with swivel or four-leg bases in metal, plastic or beech finishes.
Perfect as a home addition or to accent a workspace, the sculptural Elephant Chair is sure to create a striking centrepiece.
Award-winning design duo Eva Paster and Michael Geldmacher’s shared design philosophy is to “transfer things that have got stuck in the past into the present.” The pair established their studio, Neuland, in Munich in 1999 after meeting during their studies at the University of Applied Sciences in the Bavarian capital. Their creations reveal a devotion to classic industrial design, while maintaining a commitment to developing new forms and re-evaluating function, establishing fresh aesthetic expressions from forgotten designs.
