As part of our London Design Festival 2018 celebrations, we’re excited to announce a truly blue collaboration with our long-time partner, Carl Hansen & Søn, in a unique installation at The Conran Shop Marylebone. Responsible for some of our most well-loved, timeless pieces, the renowned manufacturer will be unveiling exclusive editions of iconic designs as you’ve never seen them before.
CH24 Wishbone Chair by Hans J. Wegner
An enduring favourite at The Conran Shop, Hans J. Wegner’s world-famous CH24 Wishbone Chair has been updated with a rich indigo lacquer, lending its beautifully grained ash construction a deep blue hue. Accented with a unique cushion pad crafted by the artisans at Hiut Denim Co., this exclusive indigo reimagination is completed with a commemorative Conran plaque as a mark of authenticity.
CH07 Shell Chair by Hans J. Wegner
Wegner’s game-changing CH07 Shell Chair has also been reimagined in rare African wenge wood, bringing a captivating grain to the sweeping, sculptural silhouette. The update is finished with Carl Hansen & Søn premium leather, which upholsters the chair’s seat and back pads in three muted hues.
Safari Chair & Ottoman and Propeller Stool by Kaare Klint
Bringing together the designs of Kaare Klint and the enduring craftsmanship of Hiut Denim Co., the Danish master’s Safari Chair and Propeller collections that revolutionised seating at their times of release have been translated into a 21st century context. In a series of three exclusive editions, the fabric elements of each design are made up of Hiut Denim Co.’s premium denim, crafted by artisans in their workshop in Cardigan, Wales.
Knud Erik Hansen, Carl Hansen & Søn’s CEO, explained the collaboration with Hiut Denim Co. in a little more detail. “Hiut Denim’s motto of ‘Do one thing well,’ mirrors the philosophy at the root of the Carl Hansen & Søn DNA. Our family company has specialised in furniture craftsmanship for over 100 years. We are passionately devoted to what we do and seek out collaborators who can bring new aesthetics, ideas and skill sets to our process.”
Unfortunately London Design Festival 2018 is now over. However, you can find out more about The Conran Shop’s events and LDF19 activities here.
