When Piet Hein Eek first approached eyewear design, his idea was to use only two lines for the top and bottom of the frames, with the temples in between.
Each thin strip of lightweight titanium curves around the lenses, pinching together at the bridge and clasping the arms in between at the hinges. This Panto design has more elliptical lenses and arms that become thinner towards the ends.
With lenses tinted to complement the metallic frames, the arms of these silver sunglasses are twisted from horizontal at the joint to vertical, so they sit comfortably over your ears.
Eindhoven-based Piet Hein Eek is a multi-disciplinary designer who continually evolves his practice. His combination of using unusual materials and uncommon but simple methods of working has become his signature style.
