In 1966, the Platner collection captured the ‘decorative, gentle, graceful’ shapes that were beginning to infiltrate the design world. This Platner Easy Chair, finished in polished nickel and upholstered in Knoll’s Rivington fabric, is created by welding hundreds of curved, steel rods to circular frames, simultaneously serving a structural and decorative purpose.
The gently curved base of the Platner Easy Chair is accented with Rivington fabric upholstery; Knoll’s Rivington fabric is a cotton and wool-blend weave with all-over multicolour texture using space-dyed yarns, inspired by the work of visionary textile designer Bernat Klein.
Featuring a clear plastic extrusion ring on its base for a smooth bottom surface, the Platner Easy Chair is the ultimate for all-encompassing comfort, with a soft upholstered surface and cushion pad. Still manufactured today by Knoll, the 1966 Platner collection by Warren Platner earned the designer worldwide recognition.
