Exclusively available at The Conran Shop, Kaare Klint’s Propeller Stool is now available in this limited edition thanks to a unique collaboration between Carl Hansen & Søn and Hiut Denim Co.
A refined and optimised version of the traditional folding stools that have existed since the Bronze Age, the Propeller Stool was initially too complex to create when Klint designed it in 1930.
Eventually produced for the mass market in 1962, eight years after Klint's death, the stool makes use of wood with long, robust fibres to help support the its slim construction, and is characterised by its innovative propeller-inspired legs that fold into one another to form a perfectly rounded rod.
Light and very functional with an elegant silhouette, the stool boasts a solid ash frame and is upholstered in organic artisan-crafted Hiut Denim Co. denim for a truly unique twist on a classic design.
Based in the Welsh town of Cardigan, Hiut Denim Co. is celebrated for regenerating the forgotten denim industry in the area. For three decades Cardigan was home to a vast denim factory, until its closure left hundreds unemployed. After it’s reopening in 2012, today the factory creates a selection of just 120 pairs of internationally renowned, organic, artisan-crafted denim jeans per week, breathing new life into the town and awarding it a well-earned place on the design map of the UK.
