The award-winning Skygarden lamp from Dutch designer Marcel Wanders was inspired by an antique, decorated ceiling in a house that Wanders owned. Wanders loved the plastered ceiling, which he called Skygarden, so much that when it came to moving house he wanted to find some way of taking it with him; the result was the Sky garden lamp.
Designed in 2007, the hemispherical shade has a mechanically-processed cast plaster diffuser which is elegantly detailed with images of a flower bush and it has a white painted finish.
The exterior is made from a strong die-cast aluminium alloy which has been given a black gloss finish.
In 2008 Skygarden won the Elle Decor International Design Award and it has also won the Red Dot Design Award.
The lamp's cable and ceiling rose is made from hard-wearing polycarbonate. Bulb included max 150W E27 HSGS.
