The distinctive Snoopy lamp was designed in 1967 by Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni. Inspired by the Charles Shultz invention, and popular cartoon character, the Snoopy light is made from an enamelled black metal reflector, with an Italian white Carrara marble stand and integral touch dimmer. The lightweight egg-shaped lampshade has three holes in the top for cooling, and rests above a sturdy disc of transparent glass. The cylindrical base is angled, giving the Snoopy its now iconic silhouette.
The Snoopy lamp takes 1 x 150W (max.) E27 HSGS light bulb (included). It is turned on and off by a touch dimmer with sensor, located on the marble base.
Achille Castiglioni, one of the most prolific and celebrated designers of Italian modernism, once explained his simple approach to design: “Start from scratch. Stick to common sense. Know your goals and means”.
