CH56 Stool Oak
The ideal bar stool for the contemporary kitchen, the CH56 Stool in oak with leather upholstery was designed in 1985 by Hans J. Wegner and is crafted today by Carl Hansen & Søn.
Wegner was one of the most prolific designers of the 20th century, having created over 500 different chairs over the course of his career. He began work as a cabinetmaker, providing him with a profound respect for the properties of wood, as well as exacting joinery techniques. He joined Arne Jacobsen and Erik Møller, designing furniture pieces for the new city hall in Århus in 1940, the same year in which he began collaborating with Holger Hasen, whose company, Carl Hansen & Son continue to produce Wegner’s classic chairs, including the CH56 and the iconic Wishbone Chairs.
